End Of Summer PRE Update

Hello to all PRE members. Each of you is valuable and important to your local chapter and to the overall health and success of Professional Referral Exchange. May this blog post find everyone gathering themselves together to organize and prepare for a robust and growing post Labor Day season as the final months of 2021 lie directly ahead.

We are mostly coming out of quarantine, even though in some areas there is still uncertainty about mask mandates and the like. Most PRE chapters have chosen to or are reviewing policy now about returning, at least some of the time, to in person meetings instead of virtual meetings only. There are very few chapters who are doing hybrid meetings, and only a tiny handful of those are doing hybrid meetings successfully. The hardware needed, as well as the room environment, greatly affect the quality of the hybrid meeting experience for those attending on line.

My main focus for the coming months will have to do with the need for chapters to recognize the importance of returning to PRE best practices. Chapters who came through the quarantine of 2020/2021 the best are the ones who did the best job of staying on track with the PRE business model. This includes staying on script with the meeting agenda, emphasize regular attendance and to expect all members to record referrals given and still doing one on ones, even if the 1/1 was virtual, not in person.

Understandably, during the whole COVID mess, many chapters lost focus to stay on track and became less disciplined in following the PRE business model, which we all know is successful relationship building and being intentional about giving qualified referrals. These chapters are now the ones who have a less positive view of the state of the economy and the health of their PRE chapter.

Nonetheless, there are many members across PRE who each tell me they are quite busy. If there are people with lots of business in front of them, doesn’t it stand to reason that it could be true for almost everyone who resolves to renew, redouble and rebuild a forward momentum? If it’s true in your work life, it can be true in your PRE chapter if it’s not already true.
I am here to tell you one thing most of all: every chapter that pulls together and decides that the rest of 2021 is a great opportunity to rebuild, rekindle and grow their chapter can profit in ways not even thought of at this time.

I’ve linked some documents (which are also downloadable from the Members section) that list best practices, offer suggestions and can help every member improve results in PRE. The list of docs include:

How I Use PRE to Build My Own Business
Best Practices For A Healthy Chapter and Best Personal Results
Key Categories List
Step-by-Step Guide for Submitting a Referral Using PRE’s Online Referral System

Here’s a preview of a coming value-added benefit for every PRE member. We are developing a free-to-members-only video workshop series from a collection of experts on social media marketing. The content will be useful for both your own business and to boost your chapter results. I’m sure everyone would like to do better in this area. Look for more details coming in the next several weeks.

I have lots more to say to encourage, inspire, and challenge everyone, so look forward to more from me in the future, but this is plenty for now.

To your success both personally and professionally,

What Our Members Say

I was invited to come to a PRE chapter as a guest, and went to a meeting where I learned the group meet EVERY week at an early hour. I'm not a morning person, and thought to myself - EVERY week? No way! However, explaining the group and it's procedures to my husband after that first meeting, I realized it could be a great thing to be part of. When I returned for a second guest meeting, five - five! - people remembered me by name. "I decided to join, and if I could recoup the expenses of membership and quarterly dues in business generated by referrals, I'd continue to be a member. Well, I earned way over the expenses needed, and have been a member for 5 years, and just joined for my 6th year! My PRE chapter members have become friends, business associates, and trusted colleagues. I'm still not happy about the early hour - haha - but I get energized and jazzed by these meetings, and love them - and my PRE family, too!

Professional Referral Exchange has been pivotal to my success as a business owner and networker. I was unbelievably nervous when I first joined, and was for months. I still remember standing in front of the group and giving my first 20 minute presentation. My hands were shaking and I read off a piece of paper! Because of PRE’s structure, and consistent processes, I slowly but surely honed by public speaking skills. While not perfect by any means, I can now quickly speak in front of any group of people on the fly. I’m also President of my chapter – something I never anticipated when I first joined! I cannot say enough about the support I’ve gotten from both my chapter members and PRE Corporate. I’ve brought enough revenue to cover about 10 years of dues. And I have built strong relationships with like-minded business people who I’m proud to call my friends.

When I started to build my network I tried various groups. Some were completely free and informal. Others were socially oriented, with big lavish networking events. I made valuable connections at these, but over the course of 2 years, made very little real progress in building a funnel of high-quality referrals. I joined PRE around the same time, and with the other members started building our chapter in Downingtown. Two years later PRE stands out as by far my most productive marketing endeavor. So far, from PRE referrals alone, I’ve brought in about $4,000,000 of assets into Sterling’s management.
